A washed Grade 1 lot from Uraga in the Guji zone of southern Ethiopia — peach, jasmine, and an unexpected cotton-candy sweetness. Roasted light-to-medium-light.
Guji sits next door to the more famous Yirgacheffe region but produces coffees with a slightly different register — floral still, but with a denser fruit centre and a longer finish. G1 is Ethiopia's top quality grade: fewer than five defects per 300-gram sample, rigorous sorting at origin. Uraga is a small woreda in Guji with high-altitude growing and small-holder farms, local Heirloom varieties, washed at the region's mills.
Currently one of our favourites on the espresso bar — the light-medium roast has the body and sweetness to hold up under pressure while keeping the peach and jasmine intact. Brews beautifully across other methods too.
