A washed single-origin from Reshad Ababulgu in Ethiopia's Limu region — nectarine and red apple up top, with a cola-like depth underneath that isn't the usual Ethiopian story. Processed at Oma Fontule, one of several washing stations serving small-holders in western Ethiopia.
Limu is quieter than its well-known neighbours (Yirgacheffe, Sidamo) but produces coffees with a different, more savoury-sweet character — stone fruit over florals, cola over tea. Local Heirloom varieties grow at altitude; the washed process keeps everything clean. This lot is a good introduction to the region for anyone who's only met Ethiopia through Yirgacheffe.
We roast this light to medium-light. Long enough development to build body and bring the cola depth forward, short enough to keep the stone fruit lifted. Excellent as filter with a medium-fine grind; holds up well in espresso with a slightly finer pull.
